Jackie du Plessis of It’s Fine-ally Finished
“A-Tisket, A-Tasket”

“A-tisket, a-tasket,
A green and yellow,
Pansy basket."

Lift the lid on the rounded silk basket, and peek inside! You will see a pansy, two or three pockets for keeping buttons, and bows and ribbons galore—ready for what life has in store. A revolving stitched needle case, shaped like a letter, shows a pansy medallion you will adore. More fine things you may find include a silky-stitched lace-edge sampling clutched in its pocket, a tiny dangling scissor fob, and maybe a fanciful hat pin in a cushion, too.

Join me this holiday season in Williamsburg as we celebrate the stitcher’s life by completing our tasks, stitching, and sharing while creating a pansy-inspired green and yellow basket with a plethora of accessories.

About Jackie du Plessis:

Jackie du Plessis was born and raised in South Africa. After graduating college with a teaching degree in the arts, she met and married her husband and they emigrated to the United States in 1995, becoming citizens in 2005.

While living in South Africa she learned many forms of needle art from creative woman surrounding her including her mother and grandmothers. Coming to the U.S. provided a whole new source of supplies and a huge opportunity for Jackie to fine-tune her talents in designing and finishing.

In 2000, Jackie’s business, It’s Fine-ally Finished, became a reality. After the birth of her son in 2002, she started designing and teaching dimensional needle art projects. Jackie draws her inspiration from many places including her extensive library of antique books and actual needlework antiques. Her projects are functional three-dimensional projects that feature a variety of interesting stitches and finishing techniques. She has taught at many venues throughout the United States, England, France, and Canada. She loves sharing her artistic and technical knowledge with fellow needle artists and finds it tremendously fulfilling. Inspiring and encouraging the stitcher to complete their projects using her easy-to-understand techniques challenges them to explore and grow while using the knowledge Jackie provides when she teaches.
